About Pelagic

Mission

Pelagic.Earth is an innovative new start-up building real-world circularity, with a sustainable solution for turning ocean and other end-of-life plastics into valuable, contemporary, designed building products.

We made our debut at Milan Design Week 2025 to great acclaim and were one of ten shortlisted installations for the official Fuorisalone Sustainability Award/Special Mention. Pelagic founder Phiippa Abbott is a multi-award-winning cross-disciplinary designer from Melbourne, Australia.

Pelagic delivers a solution to a global crisis that is impacting health, ecology, communities, governments, consumers, and industry. The design-led company transforms ocean plastics and other hard-to-recycle soft plastics - bound for landfill or waterways - into an alternative to concrete.

Beyond this, Pelagic’s solution is unique and localised. A series of portable factories, each in a 45-foot container, can be air-lifted, trucked, or transported directly to the plastic waste, whether a remote beach, a building site, or other context.

Pelagic is in the process of developing multiple sites across Australia and Asia.

The first collection of products will be available for pre-order in August 2025. Expressions of Interest for unique opportunities are welcome and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
